1. The Home page introduces the visitor to the Rothermel family by explaining how the Association was formed, the legend of the Rothermel name and the coat of arms. Variations of the Rothermel name are displayed on the Home page as is the policy for submitting information to be shared with the rest of the family. The names association officers are on this page, they are elected annually at the family reunion. Special events such as reunions and the recent Rothermel book publishing are announced at the top left corner of the page. Visitors can also access various features such as the guestbook, sign up for the family newsletter, change their information in the mail database, provide feedback through our website survey and participate in polls. The website is not a static group of pages. It is constantly being improved and new information is provided.
2. The Reunion page is where family reunions are announced. Visitors can obtain a registration form, get directions and hotel information. Also reports and pictures of previous reunions can be found on this page. Individual family groups may submit information about reunions and their locality to be posted on the website.
3. The Cemetery page contains addresses, pictures and burial lists for the private cemeteries. At this time we are aware of 5 such cemeteries. GPS coordinates are also provided for those who would like to get directions to the cemeteries.
4. The Book page is relatively new. It contains a description of the two types of books available. An order form can also be printed along with pricing information.
5. The Family News page is for Rothermel descendants to post information about special events occurring in their family unit. Engagements, weddings, births, anniversaries graduations, etc. can be submitted to the webmaster for inclusion on this page. The association also uses this page to make announcements.
6. The Our Ancestors page depicts three Rothermel families that immigrated to America in the 1700s and 1800s. Additional immigrants have been discovered. Their stories can be found in the Rothermel book.
7. The Downloads page is where visitors can download reunion registration forms and family genealogy forms. Archived newsletters can also be downloaded. Any additional forms will be added to this page as needed.
8. The Links page contains links to other websites having information relevant to Rothermel descendants or to anyone doing genealogy research.
9. The Contact Us page is the page visitors go to contact the president, the genealogy chairman, the webmaster/mail database chair and the newsletter editor.
Website features
The guestbook lets visitors tell other visitors about themselves. Some folks use the guestbook to ask others for information about ancestors.
The Jump to This pull down menu allows visitors to instantly "jump" to any area of the website. It also provides the user with a quick reference of the features available on the website. The "jump to This menu" is located within the header (lower right) of each page of the website.
Website Survey: Visitors are encouraged to participate in the Website Survey. Your feedback will aid us in keeping the website relevant to you. You simply answer a series of questions designed to gage your experience, you are given ample space for comments and suggestions. The link to the survey is in the left-hand column on the HOME page and the "Jump to This menu" at the head of every page.
Genealogy Registration Form This is a new feature. It is not necessary to print the form, fill it out, and mail it any longer. Visitors can fill in the blanks about their family group and press a button to instantly send the information to the Genealogy Database Manager for inclusion in the family tree of Rothermel descendants. The link to the online form is in the "Jump to This menu" at the top of each page.
The Telefriend boxes allow the user to tell friends about the website by simply typing the friend's e-mail address and pressing send. A pre-worded message is sent to your friend. Telefriend boxes are currently on the BOOK page, the RENUION page and the OUR ANCESTORS page.
Polls are a quick way to let your opinion be known and to help us understand our visitor's point of view. Whenever you participate in a poll you will instantly see the results of how you voted as well as how the other visitors voted. The polls rotate every month or two, so be sure to check each time you visit for a new poll. The polls are located in the left-hand column on the HOME page.
