87 Rothermel and Fetterolf family members and their spouses met at the Kutztown Grange Hall on September 17,2011 for the 72nd Rothermel and 87th Fetterolf Family Reunion. We made new friends and renewed relationships with our Rothermel and Fetterolf 'cousins'. There was plenty of time to meet and greet cousins, examine family memorabilia and history, research ancestors in the genealogy database, play bingo and participate in the silent auction and guessing games. Folks also had the chance to see samples of the new books. Click Here - See Reunion Pictures

At 2:40 PM Earl Rothermel called the annual business meeting to order. Earl lead the meeting because the president, L. Kehl Rothermel, could not be at the reunion. The following officers were elected. President: L. Kehl Rothermel, Vice President: David K. Rothermel, Treasurer and Reunion Committee Chairman: Earl R. Rothermel, Genealogy Committee Chairman: Robert E. Keller, Historic Committee Chairman: Stuart J. Furman, Website and Mailing Database Chairman: Robert R. Rothermel, Newsletter and Recording Secretary: Karen A. Rothermel, Chaplin: Rev. Mark Rothermel.

At 4 PM everyone retired to the dining room and had a delicious (seemingly endless) family style dinner. After dinner we re-gathered to sing songs led by Phylis Angstadt on the piano. There is always plenty of singing at Rothermel/Fetterolf reunions.

Barry and Jean Keiser told the group about the work they are doing in China as missioaries.
CERTIFICATES were handed out to the following people:
+ Oldest Man: Shared by Ernest Kohler and Ralph Schappell, both 86
+ Oldest Most Mature Woman: Shared by Catherine Mull, Florence Heydt and Goldie Carneal, ages withheld to protect the innocent.
+ Married Longest: Ralph and Florence Schappell
+ Most recent marraige: Russell and Sue Delp
+ Largest Family: Earnest Kohler family, 7 in attendance
+ Youngest Children: Amber Weiss, William Dance and Jared Kohler
+ Traveled the longest distance: Shared by Gary Fetterolf State of Washington, Candice Steelman, Arizona and Barbara Wilson, Utah

The winners of the brown bag guessing games were announced.
As were the winners of door prizes, mostly pretzels.
We then continued with more singing led by Phylis Angstadt. Dave Shadler led the group singing "She'll Be Comeing Round the Mountain" in the Pennsylvania Dutch Dialect.
The reunion ended, as it always does, with the singing of the Rothermel family anthem "Bless Be The Tie That Binds."

Plan now to attend the Rothermel/Fetterolf Reunion in 2012.
See You There!
